New Orleans police are investigating a shooting on Bourbon Street that left one person injured Saturday night. Authorities believe the incident may have been the result of an “accidental discharge” of a firearm.

The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) responded to the 200 block of Bourbon Street just before 10:45 p.m. on March 1, after receiving reports of gunfire. The shooting occurred in a busy area, filled with revelers and parade-goers celebrating the festivities.

Upon arrival, officers from the Eighth District found the victim, who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital by New Orleans EMS.
