A man has been shot and killed by police on the Gold Coast this morning.
According to Queensland Police, officers spotted the man, who was wanted by authorities, at Calvary Court in Labrador around 8 a.m. He reportedly pointed a gun at police before escaping in a stolen car.
Later, at 9:30 a.m. on Brisbane Road in Arundel, police confronted him, and he was shot. Despite efforts from police and paramedics to save him, he died at the scene.
Local resident Carol Speakman described the situation as frightening, saying she heard loud noises, cars speeding, and what sounded like a gunshot. She expressed concern, noting that such incidents are unusual in her quiet neighborhood, especially with the cyclone already causing worry.
