Debra (West Midnapore): Three men have been arrested for the alleged gangrape of a young woman from Kolkata in Debra. The survivor was reportedly lured with the false promise of a job, leading to the horrific incident.
According to sources, the survivor had connected with one of the accused on Facebook. The accused, who works at a hotel in East Midnapore, convinced her that he could secure her a job. Trusting his assurances, the survivor traveled to meet him in the second week of March. Upon arriving at Balichak railway station, the accused allegedly forced her into a car, where she was gangraped by the three men inside the moving vehicle.
The survivor managed to escape and immediately filed a complaint at Debra Police Station. Following an investigation, the three accused were arrested and produced in court on Saturday. They have been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody as the investigation continues.
The case highlights the dangers of online interactions and the need for caution when dealing with strangers, especially in situations involving job offers or other opportunities. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent such crimes in the future.
