A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, K. K. Radhakrishnan, was murdered in Kaithapram, Kannur, Kerala, on Thursday (March 20). According to the police, the attack happened due to a fallout between his wife and the accused, Santhosh.
Santhosh and Radhakrishnan’s wife were former classmates, but their friendship had soured over time, leading to tensions. Radhakrishnan’s wife is also a district committee member of the BJP.
The incident took place around 7:10 p.m. at a newly built house where Radhakrishnan often visited. Knowing his routine, Santhosh arrived there with a gun and attacked him.
The police believe that after the crime, Santhosh threw the weapon into a nearby well. Efforts are being made to recover it.
Santhosh, who was intoxicated at the time of his arrest, confessed his motive during interrogation.
A post-mortem examination of Radhakrishnan’s body is set to take place on Friday at Kannur Government Medical College Hospital.
