Six Indonesian Umrah pilgrims lost their lives in a bus accident on the Medina-Mecca highway in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, as confirmed by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The incident, reported to Indonesia’s Consulate General in Jeddah at 1:30 p.m. (GMT+3), resulted in 20 casualties, including six fatalities and several injuries.

The crash occurred in Wadi Qudaid, around 150 km north of Jeddah, where the bus reportedly collided and caught fire. Indonesian authorities are working closely with Saudi officials, hospitals, and other relevant entities to manage the situation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the pilgrimage tour operator to gather details about the victims and their families. Efforts are also underway to support the injured, with Indonesia’s Consul General in Jeddah confirming that they are receiving medical treatment in Saudi hospitals.
