Police have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of an eight-year-old boy near Tamworth, in north-west New South Wales.
On Tuesday evening, officers responded to a call at a home in Moore Creek, where they found family members trying to resuscitate the child. Paramedics rushed him to Tamworth Base Hospital, but he did not survive.
To look into the case, detectives from the Oxley Police District have formed Strike Force Fitzgerald. They will work alongside the State Crime Command’s homicide squad to uncover what happened.
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in the coming days as investigations continue.
