Penang Bridge Horror: High-Speed Crash Leaves Two Hurt, Elderly Biker Killed in Separate Incident!

A 46-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man were lucky to escape with only minor injuries after their car crashed into a factory bus on the Penang Bridge.

According to George Town Deputy OCPD Supt Lee Swee Sake, the accident took place around 9:20 AM on Sunday (March 2).

The crash happened when the bus was changing lanes from the middle to the right. At the same time, a car driven by the woman was coming from behind on the right side and hit the back right part of the bus.

Due to the impact, the car went out of control and swerved into the opposite lane of the bridge.

Fortunately, the car’s driver and her passenger suffered only minor injuries, while the 53-year-old bus driver was unharmed.

Earlier, The Star reported another accident at KM7.5 of the Penang Bridge. A car lost control, overturned, and crashed into the divider. It damaged over 10 divider panels before landing on the opposite side of the bridge.

Authorities are investigating the case under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In another separate incident, a 71-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a crash at KM8 of the Penang Bridge. The accident, which happened at around 8:30 AM, involved another motorcyclist, a foreign national.

The elderly rider died at the scene, while the other motorcyclist suffered injuries and was taken to Penang Hospital.

This case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
