Binghamton Man Admits to Burglary

A man from Binghamton, Jamie Viviano, has admitted to burglary charges related to two incidents that happened in 2024.

According to the Broome County District Attorney, Viviano pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary. The first crime took place in August when he broke into an apartment building on Mather Street and stole coins from a washing machine’s quarter dispenser.

In December, he committed a similar crime at the same housing complex. However, this time, he used a knife to threaten a worker while stealing more quarters.

Officials also revealed that in November 2024, Viviano had already pleaded guilty to a separate third-degree burglary charge from an earlier case. Because of this, his sentence for that charge has now been increased to 2.3 to 7 years in state prison.

For the second-degree burglary case, Viviano is set to be sentenced in May. Prosecutors expect he will receive six years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Both sentences will be served at the same time.
